With the development of science technology and the esclation of global informationization, many enterprises may resort to large scale production which excels in its efficiency and low cost to meet the needs of differeniated customers with special requirements on the products. Only in this way can a producer really succeed in meeting the requirements of the customers without referring to downsizing. The author is trying to present us with a digital industrial design system which provides us with a platform where we can harmoniously fulfill our rules such as supervision, design, evaluation as well as engineering analysis all at once by synthesizing the various ideas on concurrent design. This paper is based on the research the author has done on <the exploration of the digital industrial design system for the innovation of the products and its application in the advancement of the Electronic-driving Tool/Air-driving tool product>, on of the key projects that has been forwarded to realize the informationization in manufacturing industries in Zhejiang Province.Firstly,from the problem that the digital design and CAID faced, the author forwarded her viewpoint that the digital industrial design system with digital technology, which combined the sequential process and concurrent process in an integrated environment, is the best choice for the many enterprises to shorten new products’ explorative time span, improve the quality of their products and cut the cost down.Secondly, the author stated her view that the most essential target of establishing a digital industrial design system is to ensure that all the resources at hand have been fully used by realizing the integration of the routine, its function and information. The author further defined digital industrial design and make improvements on its system. The sensibility and feasibility of the digital industrial design were demonstrated in function, capability, design methodology and the logic structure etc.Thirdly, great emphasis was put on the analysis of the reconfiguration of the producing procedure and its techonology, the techonology of how to evaluate the validity of a certain design and the techonology of emulational analysis. The author also analysed the prolonged technology thanks to the needs of the extra tasks in the digital industrial design system.Finally, after a thorough research of the characteristics of the air-driving tool products and their designing process,the author created a digital industrial design system which suits the characteristics of an air-driving tool, taking the level of innovation and manufacture of a certain enterprise into consideration. The system was completed by using visual basic programme technology and SQL Server2000 database technology.
