| As the improvement of performance and technology of the motor and engine, theparts need to cool become more and more, so lead to the flow and head of the motorpump also become larger. But the domestic motor pumps corporation focus mainly onlife, reliability and cost, the attention of water pump efficiency is insufficient, resultin the pump efficiency is very low, only around30%, far below the45%, the level ofefficiency for foreign motor pump. Using advanced design methods and tools toenhance the efficiency of water pump, not only can reduce the power consumptionand the weight of motor pumps, but also can promote the practical application ofelectronic controlled cooling system, which can improve engine performance and fueleconomy and reduce engine emissions.For the traditional design method can’t provide the information of water pumpsinternal flow, so the improvement based on experiences is not reasonable, a numericalsimulation platform for motor water pump is built with CFD by physical modelassumptions, mathematical models and numerical models selection, considering theimpeller, volute, the radial clearance and the axial clearance. It is said by modelvalidated that though the difference between the test data and numerical simulationdata is about10%,the general trend is consistent, which indicates that the platform iscredible and available.A new motor water pump is modeled meshed simulated and analyzed with thenumerical simulation platform, and the reason why the pump’s efficiency is low hasbeen found. By analyzing the pressure distribution and the velocity vector distributionof the impeller and volute internal flow. It indicates that the mutations of pressure andflow velocity lead to the energy loss, and cause the low efficiency of the motor pump.Based on the analysis of the mainly parameter for motor pump impeller andvolute, the mechanism of motor pump hydraulic efficiency is discussed. Theparameter has different effects to motor pump performance such as leaf number, leafimport placed horn, and leaf export placed Angle, impeller outside diameter, impelleroutput width, and volute shape. On the basis of the analysis, the corresponding flow control method is put forward.Using the flow control method, the water pump is improved. The improvedpump is modeled meshed and simulated too. By the simulation analyzing, it provesthat the internal flow field of the motor pump obviously improved. The improvedwater pump entity is tested, the test results show that the efficiency of the motorpump increased from38%to48%, and reach the level of foreign motor pump. Itindicates that the numerical simulation platform is practical and effective, and mayguide the design of a motor pump with high efficiency. |
