With the rapid development of our countries’ iron and steel industry,the technologypolicy of the steel structure changes from “limited use” to positive and reasonablepopularization and application. Steel structure has a series of advantages,such as highstrength、light weight、good seismic performance、fast construction、low foundationcost、small occupied area、high degree of industrialization and good appearance,etc.Itis a protection type, recirculating utilization and used in industrialization of the structureeasily compared with concrete structure.Therefore,steel structure is widely used inbuildings of developed countries. land scarcity、dense buildings and high earthquakeintensity in some areas is our national conditions,this decides that the development ofsteel structure is a good way.This paper compared the technology and economy of concrete structure and steelstructure comprehensively based on the finite element calculation and analysis by usinghigh-rise buildingwith28layers as research object,combined existing technology andcalculation results.This paper summarized the advantage of the existence of steelstructure building and the index of comprehensive evaluation.This paper put forwardreasonable proposals by analyzing the technology and economy.It can providequantitative indicators and data base for the development、 selection、 design、construction and extension of building.The main work and results are presented as follows:(1)According to the calculation results,the high-rise steel structure building hassmaller section size、better ductility and better seismic performance with the samestructure arrangement of concrete structure.At the same time,light weight of steelstructure provides great convenience for foundation design. Therefore, steel structurehas more advantages than concrete structure in each technical performances.(2)The high-rise steel structure building has slightly higher cost than concretestructure from the contrast and analysis of economy index,but because of the shortconstruction period of steel structure, the comprehensive economic benefit of steelstructure is far higher than concrete structure, and the cost of steel structure becomesmore and more close to concrete structure with the improvement of earthquake intensity.Therefore, the comprehensive economic benefit of steel structure will become moreobvious in high earthquake intensity areas. (3)Combined with the technical and economical advantages of steel structure,thispaper evaluates steel structure comprehensively.The development of steel structure hasa great potential and prospects,and conforms to the overall situation of our countries’industry construction.
