As the fusion of the network technology and manufacturing, the traditionalmanufacturing industry has got a qualitative leap. The networking and globalization ofmanufacturing industry, prompted the cross-regional cooperation between enterprises.Networking collaborative design for different designers to provide a platform ofcollaborative design, so as to shorten the product design cycle, reduce the design costand improve the efficiency of the design of the product. Through the network incollaborative design, enterprise can promote its own rapid response ability and theinnovation ability and improve their market competitiveness.Different heterogeneous CAD data conversion become one of the key problemsthat need to solve for collaborative design development. STEP (ISO10303)—productmodel data exchange standard, it is a ISO standard to describe how to express andexchange the digital product information. STEP provides a neutral mechanism don’tdepend on specific system to describe the product data information of all life cycle.STEP neutral file has the poor readability, huge data quantity and goes against thenetwork transmission and release. XML has good network adaptability andtransmission advantage. This paper studies the service function of networkcollaborative design, uses network distributed collaborative technique to buildcollaborative design platform portal. Based on this, develope STEP/XML datatransition system, realized the conversion from STEP to XML and reverse conversion,thus completing the heterogeneous data exchange between different collaborativedesign members.Based on the STEP AP203agreement, This paper researches the mappingrelationship between EXPRESS—STEP neutral file modeling language and the XML.Through the entity data extraction of the STEP neutral file, then according to themapping relation between EXPRESS and XML, realize the data conversion fromSTEP file to the XML file. According to STEP AP203, establish corresponding XMLSchema mode, the Schema checks the effectiveness of the converted XML file, and then the XML file can be used for network transmission and release. Through theXML DOM parser, analyze the STEP entities and attributes of the XML documentsnodes trees. The informations of the DOM node tree are assigned to generate STEPneutral files, so as to realize the reverse conversion from STEP files to XML file. Theresearch of the article explores the new way for future network collaborative designtechnology, the content of the study has certain theoretical and practical applicationvalue.
