Research Of Urban Design Based On Cultural View In Mountainous Cities

As an essential carrier of human history and culture，urban spaces have obtainedtheir current morphology and culture over a long period of development andaccumulation. Urban construction of China thrives with its booming economy after itsadoption of reform and opening up policy. Meanwhile, mountain cities, which act as asignificant power of Development of the West Regions and Test Area of BalancingUrban and Rural Development in China, has made great achievements and accumulatedprecious experiences. However, it should be noted that a lot of mountain urban spacesbecome dull with the rapid growth of mountain cities, since it could not adapt to thedemands of the expression of mountain urban culture. The conflicts between cityconstruction and development of culture are becoming more obvious.As the construction of mountain cities deepens gradually, the philosophy of UrbanDesign of Mountain City has extended from material base to its function improvement,economic revitalization and cultural heritage so as to develop in an all-round way. Onlywith the mutual growth of culture and spaces in mountain city can material base bepreserved with an internal power. Fully utilizing all sorts of historic and culturalresources and optimizing the way of cultural expression in urban design of MountainCity can facilitate the construction of city culture and thereby urban spaces make sense.And Urban Design of Mountain City with the Concept of Culture plays anextremely active role in its studying and utilization practices. In theoretical researchfield, the opinions of cultural ways of urban design of mountain city are not aligned,although some scholars are studying on it from varied aspects. But it should be admittedthat the “cultural concept” is widely used in practices of construction of mountain city,therefore it is necessary that research be carried out on its root causes, functionalmechanism for the sake of forming a set of its theory and method.This thesis is centered on mountain urban spaces with an analysis of origin, withthe method of Urban Design of Mountain City as the carrier, and analyses therelationship between culture and city, the expression of culture in the city space, thoseoutstanding cultural ideas of Urban Design of Mountain City in the history, thedeficiency of culture in modern urban design of mountain city and so on. While playingthe discipline of” spatial analysis” advantage, it carries a research on mountain urbanspaces with the perspective of culture, and discusses the relationship and effect between mountain city culture and mountain urban spaces. Therefore planning and design goal,principles and specific strategies of Urban Design of Mountain City with theperspective of culture are put forward accordingly. It should be pointed out that theexpression of urban culture are not confined to its space planning and constructionguidance and it also involve human activities, special facilities and cultural heritage etc.In all, Urban Design of Mountain City with the perspective of culture and its designmethods are exploited in this thesis in order to achieve unity of urban culture anddevelopment of urban spaces.The main part of this thesis includes four major sections:Part one(including Chapter I): Research background, systematically reviewingand summarizing research background, purpose and significance of this thesis anddomestic and abroad comprehensive explanation, method, frame of related research.Part two (including Chapter Ⅱ): Contents overview, talking about Culture,Mountain City and the intersection between them two.Part three(including Chapter Ⅲ&Ⅳ): Analysis and summary, summing upUrban Design of Mountain City in the past and nowadays with the perspective ofculture, with excellent experience of traditional Urban Design of Mountain City andcomments on present situation of Urban Design of Mountain City.Part four (including Chapter Ⅴ&VI): Theory and method, to put out the theory ofcultural concept in Urban Design of Mountain City, and the research on the specifictheory and method of Urban Design of Mountain City based on that theory.
