| Tibet is an import Traditional settlements and vernacular dwellings arespontaneous formed during the development of human, and their functions and externalspace are influenced by the form by the activity of human, cultural transmission andinheritance and natural and social environments. They also carry social, economic,ethnic, religious and other information about the evolution of human. Although theservice value of these architectures is less than that of modern urban architecture, theyare valuable research objects for architecture professions. Through studying the oftraditional settlements and vernacular dwellings, creating technical and architecturalculture in-depth,we could inject new vigor and cultural connotations to the modeling ofmodern architecture t. Therefore this study has important theoretical value and practicalsignificance.Ancient Gyangze Town, which is an important settlement on the Tea-Horse Roadwas the research object in this paper. As Traditional settlements and vernaculardwellings in Tibet, the cultural connotations and unique settlement patterns were our themain research field. Based on the reflections of the past research methods andperspectives for settlements and dwellings, The author pointed that in order tounderstand the Tibetan settlements and dwellings, the religion-centered mode isunilateral. We should also understand the economy, social context, culture, military,daily life and other aspects, and then put the settlements and dwellings into the entiregeographical area and cultural routes for researching and establish a "3D" iamge.The thesis consisted of six chapters, the organizational structure can be dividedinto the following aspects. The first chapter is the introduction part and mainly to clarifythe background of the research topic, meaning and current researchs as well as the mainresearch method. The second chapter combed the development of the Gyangze Townand multicultural background. So as to reveal the historical evolution and socialenvironment of the Gyangze Town, is the objective necessary conditions of itsformation and development.The third chapter analyzed the factors that influence the formation anddevelopment of Ancient Gyantse Town, and identified the primary forces; analyzed theimpacts of ethnic, religious, economic and production activities factors and theirmanifestation mode and extent, and thus to studied the whole shape space. Based on the understanding the regional characteristics of this area, the fourth and fifth chaptersstudied the dwellings in Ancient Gyantse Town; clarified the planar system, functionand shape; summarized the influencing factors and characteristics for the dwelling space;analyzed the symbolism of the building construction and decoration culture. Chapter sixstudied the protection and development of the Ancient Gyantse Town. Based on thecircumstances of Ancient Gyantse Town, we proposed to the protection anddevelopment should be applied at the same time. |
