With the increasingly fierce industry competition and diverse customerrequirements, demands of customization design and rapid design for metallic doorsand windows are outstanding. Product configuration, which matches and assembliespre-division configuration modules to output products according to customerrequirements, is an effective method to achieve rapid and customized design.Therefore, this paper makes comparatively deep research on configuration technologyof metallic doors and windows, and develops a configuration design system formetallic doors and windows.First, based on the present research status of product customization design,aiming at customer requirement of metallic doors and windows, the metallic doorsand windows product family was planned, and a product configuration design schemewas given.Second, this paper studies the core technologies involved in the metallic doorsand windows product configuration design, such as configuration module division,product customization and variant design. Aiming at the characteristic ofconfiguration design oriented to product family, on the basis of constructingconfiguration matter element to describe part family, according to the formal conceptanalysis theory, formal context of configuration matter and configuration module wasconstructed, and corresponding formal concepts were extracted. In this way,configuration modules based on configuration matter element were extracted, and theconfiguration module universal set forming a product family was obtained.Configuration module division supporting product family design was obtained bysearching for module subsets meeting the concept segmentation in this set. Aiming atthe hierarchical configuration process driven by customer requirements, combiningthe ontology’s advantages in representating knowledge, customer requirementontology model and product configuration ontology model were defined. On the basisof analyzing and building ontology model, layer mapping between customerrequirements and product configuration ontology was established to match customerrequirements layer by layer and output customize products. Based on the analysis ofproduct variant design method, the parametric analysis for structural and sizeconstraints of configuration products was done, and then the the variant designprocess under the constraints was described,which provides a solution for the structure and size variant design of metallic doors and windows.At last, based on the study on the core technologies of product configurationdesign, a configuration design system for metallic doors and windows is developed.The system is characterized by good interaction, convenient operation, and fowerfulfunction. The system has been applied in several enterprises with good applicationeffects achieved.
