With the economic and social development, tremendous achievementshave been made in China. The opportunity of large-scale events becomemore frequent. These events are characterized by the large number of thecrowds, high risk. How to optimize the crowds traffic organizationmeasures has the important significance for preventing the crowdsaccident and guaranteeing the crowds safety.Firstly, this paper analyses the basic pedestrian characteristics andcrowds traffic characteristics in the large-scale activities, including thedefinition and characteristics of large-scale activity, the relationshipbetween flow rate, density and speed. pedestrian psychology and behaviorcharacteristics, the phenomenon of herd, queue, arch emerged in densetraffic behavior, the transportation demand characteristics and the trafficflow characteristics, the arriving and leaving characteristic of the crowds.Also, this paper summarizes two typical conclusions about social forcemodel. The first one is the relationship between the efficiency and thedesired speed. The conclusion confirms the old saying goes which are"more haste, less speed". The second one is the effect of the widen area ofthe diamond on the efficiency.There are two works done in the thesis. For one thing, the thesisoptimizes the serpentine walkway and proposes a new kind of serpentinewalkway. Compared to the traditional serpentine walkway, the proposedone has the advantage according to the cumulative flow, the average speed,the speed variance. For another, the thesis studies the traffic organizationof the crowds leaving the stadium through multiple walkway. By VISSIMsimulation, the thesis analyzes the effect of stop, walking in the oppositedirection and conflicting with some angle on the efficiency. The thesisproposes the fanshaped walkway and circular radial walkway. WithVISSIM simulation, these two proposed walkways have the advantagesaccording to the efficiency and safety indexes.The achievements of the thesis have the reference value for the crowdstraffic organization, walkway design and the optimization of the entering and leaving the stadium.
