Research On Contractor’s Claims Of Duration Delay

In the construction process, project schedule delaying often occurs due tovarious reasons. Proceeding from the considerations of protecting their ownlegitimate rights, making up project loss and improving economicperformance, contractors often make an indemnity claim to proprietors.Therefore, project indemnity claiming has become an important way forcontractors to protect their own rights and interests.Based on the Contract for Construction, this thesis summarizes the problemson project indemnity claiming in existing documents in the light ofDocumentary Analysis and lays a foundation for the indemnity claiming studyof time extension in projects. In contractors’ interests, this thesis analyses therisk factors causing a delayed schedule of projects by the application of thePEST method and RBS Risk Breakdown Structure. It explains the basicquestions like the principle of liability on indemnity claiming for a delayedschedule and lays special stress on the analysis of claims for extension of timeand financial claims. Through the case, the thesis puts forward a new kind ofDecision Support System and aims to provide powerful support in contractors’indemnity claiming process.
