The majority of the Gu angdong Shaoguan i s mountainous area and t herough ter r ain, t he average year of t hunderst or m day i s a b out 79, li ghtni ngactivities of this area are strong. Because some electric power lines arethrough mount ains, hills a nd r ivers r egi on, lightning activi ties ca use d gre atinfluence on t he power gr id. Li ght ni ng tri pped acci dent happened manyti me s on 110kV t o 220kV power tra n s mi ssion lines , di s tributi on net wor kand subst ations. The li ght ning damage accident has affected t he local powersupply reliability seriously, has created the heavy loss to the local economy,and is threateni ng the enti r e el ectric al net wor k’s stea dy operati on. Thispaper wor ks on t he syste m of light ning protection in Shaoguan mountainousarea, through t he scene invest igation and st udy a nd the theoretical analysiscomputati on, di scovers the defects of light ning prote ction in mountainousareas, and put s for ward t he speci fic me asure s for lightni ng protecti o n.This pa pe r st arts fr om the material collection, through fi eld investi-gation and test, finds out th a t trans mi s sion li ne l ightning t rip-out ra te highcause s i n clude mo untai n soi l resi stivi ty is higher, the lightning activity isfrequent, complex landform and geological conditions, the tower’s groun-ding resistance exceed the standard, as well as the insulator aging; Thedistributi on net work exi ste nce i nsul ation l evel is not high, s witc hingequi pment ’s e arth r esista nce is unquali fie d, Dist ributi on t rans for me r ’s e arthwa y is wr ong; A substati on l ightning pr ote ction light ning prote ction sidehas not e nough, the line s egme nt of protecti on should be strengthe ned, thesubstation grounding resistance me as ure me nt error and other pr oble ms ;Substation information syste m power supply syste m la cks the c orr ect le velthree mea sures of li ghtni ng protecti on, signal lightning pr otecti on s yste m isrelativel y weak, t h e engine r oom equi pment , e q uipme nt i n e ngi ne r oom andequi pote n tial bondi ng i s not per fect .Thr ough t he analysis of existing Sha o gua n lightning pr ot ection me as-ures are not enough, t his pa per puts forward the foll owi ng measures: Di-vide s the trans mis sion li ne into four type s, and give s the di ffe rent a n-ti-radar me asur e; Re duc e t he power di stribut ion e qui pme nt of groundi ngresistance, add li ghtning ar resters to low vol tage s ide of di str ibuti on transformer and the switc h on the c olumn on both sides; A substati onlight ning prote ction light ning rod si de should e x pand the scope of prote c-tion, str e ngthen substati ons in line pr otecti on, eli mi nati n g the me asuri ngerror of substation grounding resistance; Substation infor mati on syste msneed to i n stall power lightni ng prote ct ion devi c e, si gnal syste m should in-stall si gnal lightni ng prot ec tion de vi ce,a nd i mprove t he e qui potenti albonding i n e ngi ne r oom.Thr ough t he above measur es of li ght ni ng pr otec tion, t o f ind out t heSha ogua n power gr id li ght ni ng regula rity, reduce power grid light ning a c-cident, ensure the reliability of power supply. At the same time, this re-searc h me thod and researc h r esults can also be e xtended t o other mount ainarea power grid in the practi ce of lightning pr otection, and has a guidingsigni fi cance.
