With the rapid economic development,water resource issues have become increasingly prominent.There is a lack of water that seriously hampers economic and social development and even threatens human safety of drinking water. The world’s freshwater resources are limited. Due to the serious pollution of water resources as well as more and more demand for water resources, many parts of the world have suffered different degrees of water scarcity and lack of water or water-stressed areas are expanding. Our country which is one of the world’s13most water-poor countries is a developing country and water problems are very serious.Solving these water issues is an urgent task in front of all the countries.Scientific and rational water resource planning and management must be taken to solve these problems.Water resource assessment is the basis of the water resource planning and management,so water resource assessment is particularly important. This essay assesses the quality of water resources as well as water supply and demand of Zhengzhou city.This assay aims to provide the basis for the rational planning and management of water resources of Zhengzhou city and solve the water problems faced by Zhengzhou city.This essay focuses on the building of water resources assessment models and uses the models to assess the water resources of Zhengzhou city,including the assessment of quality and water supply and demand.The water quality assessment uses fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model based on ertropy.The assessment results of the surface water and groundwater are obtained by using the model. Water supply and demand analysis mainly analyse status and planning level year’s volume of water demand,water supply,water surplus and deficiency as well as the satisfaction of water requirement of Zhengzhou city.This can find out contradiction between supply and demand of water resources of Zhengzhou city and propose solutions.This provides a reference for water supply and demand balance of Zhengzhou city.Another major content of this essay is the establishment of assessment system based on GIS in water resources of Zhengzhou city. This system uses.NET as the development platform, combining with embedded GIS component library ArcEngine provided by ESRI to develop this system. The spatial database is established by using the data collection function of GIS.And the attribute data is stored and managed by using oracle database management system.Water resources assessment system is constructed based on assessment model of water resources.Using this assessment system could assess water resources of Zhengzhou city easily and intuitively.And the results of the assessment could be counted and analyzed as well as visually expressed by using GIS function.
