| EPC(Engineering-Procurement-Construction) is one of the most popular project management patterns in the world, under which the project owners may stand less risks and determine project costs more easily. Though general contractors with EPC project may have more risks on the contrary, they could create more added-value by deeply involving it into projects. EPC project has been developing with high speed in recent years, but there still remain lots of factors that could restrict the Model development. Among these, the undesirable management capability of EPC contractors could be regarded as one of the most important barriers.TQM (Total Quality Management) originated and maturated from manufacturing industry.Though its concepts are not new to us today, theory on TQM is not widely used in the field of project building and doesn’t shape the system guarantying the quality of engineering projects. This may be attributed to the fact that engineering projects are different from manufacturing industry in certain eyes. Based on the core thought of TQM, the academic thesis tries to research and construct the quality assurance system under EPC project.First, the thesis analyzes the differences between EPC project and others in order to generalize the features of EPC project. From perspectives of TQM, features about engineering quality management under EPC project will be elaborated on the follows.Based on analysis above, the thesis discusses key elements affecting the engineering quality of EPC project. These main dimensions to consider come from product, process, and the requests of owners. Thus, we may push off the key factors influencing the quality management of engineering projects and establish basis for the following work.The Charter four will build the assurance system of engineering management from dimensions of organizing, coordinating, incentives and control. In the end, the thesis will conclude by summarizing the contents of charters ahead. |
