| As the official building, Yashu is one of the main building types in Acient China. It is the localgovernment office buildings in ancient Chinese feudal society, and is also the main premises for ancientofficials handling official business. Therefore, in ancient Chinese architecture building history, Yashuoccupies an extremely important position. At the same time, Yashu is a symbol of the ruling power infeudal society, its architectural form stands for the spiritual function of feudal ruling authority, and reflectsthe feudal society patriarchal clan concepts and theories concepts. As time goes on, under the influence ofthe social changes and many historical factors, architecture examples of Yashu building before Ming andqing dynasty is extremely rare, and only Jiangzhou Yashu and Huozhou Yashu in Shanxi Province remain.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Central Yashu six Departments and five Mansions have ceased toexist, and only a few local Yashu building remain, but most are un-integral, some were rebuilt, somewere severely damaged, which leads to the low amount of Yashu building available as an example of objectof study. Due to mentioned above, there are many difficulties and problems in the empirical study of Yashubuildings, and the research in this field is still insufficient, and need the further researches and discussiones.Ancient Nanyang Yashu building group is the place for Nanyang Governor to manage officialbusiness in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, also is the most integral preserved Yashu “specimen†all overChina. This paper focuses on ancient Nanyang Yashu building, and through a systematic series of Mingand Qing Dynasty literature and theory of Yashu, and presents a research on the Yashu history, singlebuilding style and cultural connotation&value.The first chapter introduction.
