Concrete gravity dam located on rivers is a kind of hydraulic hydro-technical construction that maintains stable relying on dead weight. Anti-sliding stability in dam foundation surface and deep dam foundation become the most important problem in gravity dam design. In terms of roller compacted concrete dam, the problem of anti-sliding stability in compacted layer is indispensable. At present, many major engineering take rigid body limit equilibrium method as the principal means and numerical simulation method as assistant method. And these two methods combine together as verify and supplement each other. For the large-scale construction, model test method should be taken in consideration. This paper firstly introduces the present situation of gravity dam anti-sliding stability analysis home and abroad. And then describes how the rigid body limit equilibrium method and finite element method are applied in dam anti-sliding analysis. Finite element method is applied in several ways such as point shearing resistance safety factor method, anti-sliding rich coefficient method, overload coefficient method and strength reserve safety factor method.Taking Kala hydropower station that located on Yalong River as an example in the fourth chapter, using finite element method, this paper analyzes the anti-sliding stability under static and seismic situation of some classic dam section such as water retaining, mesopore monolith and overflow. And comparison between FEM and rigid body limit equilibrium method result is done. ANSYS, a kind of large general FEM calculating software, can offer stress or displacement field under variable conditions. Then some kinds of anti-sliding stability safety factors can be achieved after some post processing steps In the end, this paper proposes some reasonable engineering measures to improve structure safety.
