In modern consumer market, the homogenization trend of different brandproducts become more obvious, so the actual function has not enough to gain thefavor of consumers. As the individualization and the fashion gradually become moreand more important in the consumption activities, emotion becomes the key factor togain the favor of consumers. Product form directly reflects its emotional function, soindustrial design has become a important competition ability and gain more andmore attention.In this research, emotional requirement of consumer is the starting point. Basedon Kansei Engineering, the relationship between the product form and theconsumers’ kansei image is analyzed, and how to translate the kansei image intodesign elements is studied. At last the method to create a product family based onkansei image is presented.The research includes four stages. First, the product samples and kansei imageare obtained based on Kansei Engineering, the design elements of samples aredefined based on Morphological analysis, and the contact matrix of “design element----product form----kansei image” is set up. Second, the design parameters basedon gray relational analysis are identified, the platform parameters and the individualparameters are defined, and the parameter configuration method of product familydesign process is obtained. Third, the kansei image value of new samples ispredicted with the fuzzy neural network, also the result of parameter identification isverified. Thus the evaluation mechanism that can evaluate each sample in productfamily is presented. At last, the automatic evolution and generation of sample isrealized with Genetic algorithm. With the artificial judgment and the evaluationmechanism of fuzzy neural network, new samples which are in accordance with thegoal kansei image are created, and the result will be used to come into being theproduct family based on kansei image.The car side contour is taken as a practice example. The result shows that themethod is reasonable and feasible.
