The electric short term load forecasting is guarantee for the safety and economic operation of power systems, and also the basis of making plans for gird scheduling, power supply, power transaction. Meantime, the introduction of electricity market put forwards higher requirements on the accuracy, timeliness, reliability and intelligence of load forecasting.Short-term load forecasting analysis is very important to the power applications, such as the optimal combination of unit, economic dispatch, optimal power flow, especially to the electricity market. This paper introduced the process and steps of electric power load forecasting, load forecasting characteristics, the error analysis and error causes, especially discussed the Normal day forecast method based on the same type prediction, a linear regression method, and also the new interest rate forecast of Normal day forecast method based on the same type prediction; described and analyzed the characteristics and indicators of Beijing power system load, then carried out the actual load forecasting to Da xing regional power grid using the new generation analysis and management network load forecasting system. By comparing the forecast data of three different prediction methods, this paper obtained locally appropriate load forecasting method.Short-term load forecasting system achieved integration and standardization load forecasting of Beijing Electric Power Corporation and all districts and counties power company. Predictions were more accurate, which greatly met market demand, and played a very good technical support for the improvement of the efficiency and the quality of load forecasting.
