Research On The Design Of Rail Transit Complex In Public Central Area

The rail transit not only reduces the traffic pressure, but also changes the urban space andthe traffic modes. However, there are some problems about the transit construction in Chinabecause of lack of relevant theory, such as single function, low utilization of land and space,defective tightness to the surrounding environment, and so on. These problems are extremelyserious in public central areas. Under these circumstances it is essential to construct the transitcomplex to meet actual demand, because of its multifunction and intensive use of space. Onthe other hand, there are many projects at home and abroad, which have been proved that thetransit complex is benefit to multi aspects.Therefore, this paper proposed the concept of "transit complex" and researched on it,selected the “public central area” as main focus area. Based on the practical problems, thispaper analyses the characteristics of the public central areas, and explained the formation andcharacteristics of the specific types of rail transit complex. Furthermore, explored thecombination methods of rail transit complex and urban public central areas, and studied thedesign principles from the urban design aspects. At the same time, researched the relationshipand interacts of all the functional units, then elaborated the design methods and the key pointsfrom view of the architectural design. Finally, combined with the practical projects, evaluatedthe experience and insufficient, and try to explore the preliminary results applied to theexisting design, in order to solve some practical problems and help to guide the future work.
