Research On The Strategy Of Regional Brick Architecture Skin Design

With the development of economic and technology, a variety of new materials continueto appear. Brick which acts as a traditional building material fade into history, and is nolonger treated as a key point of a building. But thousands of years, a variety of regionalculture is accumulated because numbers of brick architectures were built. Therefore, in orderto emphasis on personality, brick building has renewed vitality, a growing number ofarchitects shift their focus on bricks, and create a large number of excellent brick architecture.The research is conducted base on the issue from the regional perspective of the brickbuilding design. And the author use critical regionalism theory and tectonics theory astheoretical basis. Regionalism theory is the basis for individual expression of brickarchitecture. And tectonics theory is the basis for architecture design of brick architecture.In the research of brick architecture skin designing in specified region, the author d theresearch from two directions. One is the research for Chinese traditional brick architecture.The other is modern brick architecture skin design. The author summarize the features ofbrick architecture in different regions by comparing the brick architectures in Fujian provinceand Guangdong province，and explore the potential of bricks as a material for construction inspecified region. The author selects three different kinds of modern architecture skins whichwere constructed with bricks, and explores the methods for designing the brick architectureskin in specified region while maintaining the character of the architecture.In the last part of this paper, combining the author uses a folk culture museum designproject as an example, explores the methods of brick architecture skin design in Pu’er city,Yunnan province in order to design a building that reflects the special features of the regionalculture in Yunnan.
