A Study On Parking Strategy In The Central Business District Of Guangzhou City

With the rapid development of Guangzhou’s economy and the boost of people’s livingstandard in recent years, the number of household private cars has been rocketed steadily,which results in increasingly serious urban parking problems. Due to the heavy traffic andthick population, especially in central commercial area, the contradiction between demandsand supply in parking has become more and more severe, which often brings about trafficcongestion and greatly affects city transportation. What’s more, because parking areas werenot planned from the perspective of development in the past, which resulted in irrationaldistribution of parking facilities, the construction of parking areas in Guangzhou has laggedbehind the development of the market economy and society. Thus, solving urban parkingproblem is of great necessity.First of all, this thesis attempts to carry out a systematic study on the parking problemsof the central commercial district in Guangzhou city. By means of questionnaire andinvestigation, this study explores the status quo of parking in central commercial district andobtains abundant first-hand materials. Secondly, based on these materials available, this papersummarizes and figures out the existing problems and corresponding reasons. Finally, byanalyzing the trend of study on parking strategy in the central business district of Guangzhoucity, this paper comes up with some solutions to these problems from the following3aspects:parking planning, construction of parking lots and parking management. The main studyingsteps are as follows: step1: investigation and analysis, step2: trend of study on parkingstrategy, step3: the domestic and foreign experiences and step4: solutions and strategies.In brief, this study will help to solve parking problems, realize the role of internationalfinance of the central commercial district in Guangzhou and promote economy development.What’s more, it is of great significance to guide parking plan and construction in the centralcommercial district of Guangzhou, and improve the constructing pattern of parking facilitiesand the management of parking in China big city.
