A Study On Parking In The Central Business District Of Handan City

With the rapid development of Handan's economy and the boost of people's living standard in recent years, the number of household private cars has been rocketed steadily, which results in increasingly serious urban parking problems. Due to the heavy traffic and thick population, especially in central commercial area, the contradiction between demands and supply in parking has become more and more severe, which often brings about traffic congestion and greatly affects city transportation. Thus, solving urban parking problem is of great necessity.First of all, this thesis attempts to carry out a systematic study on the parking problems of the central commercial district in Handan city. By means of questionnaire and investigation, this study explores the status quo of parking in central commercial district and obtains abundant first-hand materials. Secondly, based on these materials available, this paper summarizes and figures out the existing problems and corresponding reasons. Finally, by constructing a model, this paper, on the basis of the prediction of parking demands, comes up with some solutions to these problems from the following 3 aspects: parking planning, construction of parking lots and parking management. The main studying steps are as follows: step1investigation and analysis, step2 prediction of the parking demands of local residents, and step 3 solutions and strategies.In brief, this study will help to improve the constructing pattern of parking facilities and the management of parking, and solve parking problems of Handan, therefore, it is of great significance.
