In recent years, with the continuous increase of the amount of investment in the construction of the GPRS network in the network, the coverage rate in our country is also gradually increasing, at the same time, it also leads to the continuous reduction of communication costs. The electric power industry can make full use of GPRS wireless IP, with the provision of service network platform of remote wireless meter reading system to build,remote wireless meter reading system with real-time strong, construction cost low, reading a wide range and remote control and other advantages of electric equipment, in the future will inevitably suffer the favor. In addition, from the point of view of the technical level, which is used by the GPRS packet data exchange technology of high stability, can guarantee to the network of sustained and stable online; also, data transmission rate theory value as high as171.2Kbit/s, can meet the requirements of electric power communication system of communication speed and real time. GPRS in accordance with the flow of billing, which makes the user's burden of communication costs even more affordable. From the economic point of view or from a technical point of view, the use of GPRS technology to design power remote meter reading system has a very important practical significance.This paper mainly studies and designs a power remote meter reading system based on GPRS technology. First of all, the design of the terminal software of the remote meter reading system is analyzed, and the function requirement and design flow are studied. Based on this, the data acquisition, processing program and the connection program of the GPRS network are designed. After the system server management software design, study the main function of the framework and procedures for the realization of the process. Finally, combined with the specific operation of the project, the design of the system architecture, analysis of the main functions of its implementation. In this paper, the system has the advantages of GPRS network permanent online, network is simple, flexible, access time is short, quick transmission speed, covering a wide range of advantages, realize the remote automatic meter reading(AMR) settlement monitoring, alarm, report statistics and cut starting, loss statistic and analysis, forecasting multiple functions. Design of the remote electric energy meter reading system, strengthen the power sector of user electric energy real-time control, management, analysis and business forecasting, to promote the power marketing automation implementation meets the requirementsof the development of smart grid.
