The Research On The Reuse Of The Historic Dwelling Buildings In Hakka Area Of Meizhou

Hakka is a special system in Chinese nation, whose mature and stable center is Meizhou,well known as its capitalNot only do Hakka’s folk dwellings have much to do with those of other areas, but alsothey have seen the mixture of its full development and other architecture style, which presentsextinct local feature.Under the background of an increasing passion in studying Hakka’s culture, a gradualemphasis on the protection and making full use of traditional villages and folk dwellings, aswell as the rise of its cultural tourism, this thesis focuses on the following points: carry out astudy on the reuse of the folk dwellings in Hakka area of Meizhou, and discuss how to inspirethe dynamism in various dwellings, so as to get them better adjust themselves to modern life,which helps protect the Hakka’s traditional culture and pass it on to the later generation.This thesis consists of six chapters, as follows:The first chapter serves as the study background, purpose, significance, method and theframe.The second chapter mainly aims to analyze the related theories and practice of historicalbuildings’ reuse from home and abroad, on both theoretical and practical aspects, guiding thereuse of those folk dwellings in Meizhou.The third chapter is the fundamental study on Hakka’s folk dwellings. This thesis takesan analysis from the aspects of historical background, village features, architectural featuresand the display situation. Therefore, a relatively clear understanding of Hakka’s folkdwellings in Meizhou has been built up.The fourth chapter is the study on the reuse status of Hakka’s folk dwellings. It beginswith a deep analysis on the overall situation and specific cases, finding out experience andproblems existed in it. Then, a thorough consideration is taken on the aspects of viewpoints,laws and policy, protection mechanism and the technical system.The fifth chapter is used to explore how to reuse Hakka’s folk dwellings. Qiaoxiangvillage is considered as our main target. Based on studying the village buildings, on the four aspects of function, outer and inner appearance and the surroundings, the guide andsuggestions are carried out in reusing folk dwellings. At last, we select the design ofimproving and making use of Qingyunlu to check the related guiding content.The sixth chapter is considered as a closing and expectation.
