Many accidents happen because of low tire pressure or tire bursting, especially on thesuper highway. So it is an important issue of automobile active-safety that how to monitortire pressure. Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is an active-safety equipment that canmonitor the temperature and pressure inside the tire, and will alarm when they are not normal,which guarantee the safety of auto. Besides, TPMS can advance control, reduce oilconsumption. Pressure-sensor based TPMS monitors the pressure and temperature by sensorsinside tire, sends the database required though sensors to display modules in cage, and showsthe values of them. America and Europe already have popularized TPMS for a long time, butour country has no research on it with no core technology but some foundries. We can foreseethat the proportion of electronic system on a car will be more, and TPMS will be the mainactive-safety equipment. Independent development TPMS will have a very importantsignificance on advancing automobile safety and enhancing the international competitionforce of our automobile industry.Chapter one, summarizing the functions and sorts of TPMS, the current situation andtrend both inside and outside, and offering the research method and technology route of thisarticle. Besides, introducing the working principles of three main TPMS systems which aredirect TPMS, indirect TPMS and surface acoustic wave tire pressure system. Because of thehigh accuracy of direct TPMS and lower requirements for related equipments, it is the mainsystem and also the research goal.Chapter two, introducing the whole design plan. At present, there are three commonTPMS---Infineon, Freescale and general. We choose Freescale TPMS though analysis ofthem, and introduce the design thoughts of software and hardware.Chapter three, designing the hardware and software of tire module of direct TPMS.Representing the main chip sensor MPXY8300A which is a high integration one includingtemperature, pressure and acceleration, and programming the hardware PCB circuit board ofMPXY8300A. Chapter four, designing he hardware and software of display module of direct TPMS.Introducing the main chip of display module---microcontroller MC98JW32and RF receiverMC33696. Having designed circuits and programme of the module.Chapter five, designing anti-interference performance and reliability.Chaper six, testing the performance of the direct TPMS.
