Mass Customization is an advanced producing mode, the present researchon Mass Customization is lack of the rapid inspection planning technology orientedto the manufacturing quality of customized products,which greatly affects thecustomized products’ inspection efficiency and the production cycle. Combiningwith the characteristics of customized parts and CMM automatic measurement, thisarticle puts forward a kind of Computer Aided Inspection Planning technology,which can plan the inspection information of customized parts automatically,andgenerate the needed inspection procedures. The main work of the article as follows:(1) On the analysis of the present research on Mass Customization andinspection planning technologies of CMM at home and abroad, it proposed the mainwork of this research according to the shortages of the present research on inspectionplanning of customized parts’ manufacturing qualities.(2) It put forward the principle of part family automatic inspection planningbased on TLAC,and discussed the key technologies to achieve this principle.(3) It proposed the technology of establishing the main model of variant designbased on TLAC and described process of establishing. And then, it put forward theprinciple of establishing the main inspection model based on TLAC, the toleranceTLAC used to the inspection planning was contained in the main inspection model. Itdescribed the design of tolerance knowledge database and introduced the reasoningprocess of tolerance information by using examples. Finally, it introduced theprocess of the inspection model deriving and interface technology.(4) It introduced the technology of the main inspection planning template of partfamily based on TLAC, and proposed the main contents in the main inspectionplanning template. Combining with related international standard and the actual work,it researched inspection planning information, including the planning of the numberand distributing of the measuring points and the inspection path. At last, it introduced the process of inspection planning procedures deriving and interface technologybetween CMM and the inspection planning procedures.(5) According to the research above, it designed and developed the prototypesystem for automatic inspection planning of part family, and verified the keytechnologies by using stepped shaft which were commonly used in mechanicaldesign.(6) It summarized the main work and the shortage of this research, and putforward the prospects for the future.
