China vigorously promot the changes of pattern of grid development. Griddevelopment achieve major breakthroughs, particularly with regard to intelligentpower grid construction has achieved remarkable success.As an important node of thesmart grid substation is also keeping up with the concept of smart grid to intelligentbuilding.To accelerate the building of strong unified smart grid, improve intelligentsubstation operation efficiency and benefit, a advantage communications networkmust be designed to build to ensure the communication with higher timeliness, betterreliability, more uniform standards, as well as more consistent synchronization in orderto meet the communication requirements of intelligent substation.330KV Hanzhong substations is the hub substation of Shaanxi Province powergrid and Hanzhong power grid.To meet the construction needs and business transferneeds of the smart grid, now need to make the communication between Hanzhong andProvince Dispatching for reliable, fast and efficient. This article chiefly researchHanzhong substations communication network transmissions from four perspectives.Firstly transports of communication network. Traditional communicationtechnologies Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy (PDH) exposed some weaknesseswhich became evolve barriers of optical fiber communication technologies in manyyears application. First, there is no global standard optical interface specification.Second, quasi-synchronous multiplexing transmission performance is not well andmultiplexing structure lacks flexibility. Third network management features areincomplete. Fourth, Poor scheduling and self-healing features of the network. Aboveshortcomings of the PDH has not adapted to the rapid development of moderncommunications network requirements.Synchronous Digital Hierarchy come intobeing. SDH is the international standards of bulk synchronous optical network,through standard digital signal frame structure, reuse mode,transfer rate level, code ofinterfaces and other features, providing economic and flexible add drop multiplexing, overcoming the PDH plesiochronous method recursively decompose or multiplexingprocess. It reduces the amount of equipment, simplifies the structure ofnetwork,reduces network costs.It is the inevitable result that communication networkstowards high speed, digitization, integrated and intelligent direction.Secondly transmission reliability of communication network.Communicationnetwork is the carrying electric communication business channel.Its failure will bringa huge impact on transfer business in particular of relay protection and power systems.So the survivability of network is critical, cannot be ignored.The ring-like structureis the real sense of the self structure in the SDH netwoke. Therefore it receive a widerange of applications in China’s electric power communication.Thirdly communication network transmissions of synchronization. Thetransmission network, which assume the pass command of power system real-timedata and control, scheduling tasks is the indispensable important means of ensuringsafe, reliable and economic operation of power system.Hub substation configuratetwo-node clock with GPS signal as clock benchmarks.SDH equipments in thesubstation configurate four-node clock to tracke the superior clock signal throughsynchronous transmission path and complete automatic protection switching whensynchronization failure occurs.
