Reliability and safety of super structure directlydepends on integrity of pile body and single pile bearing capacity. The importance ofconstruction quality of piles is self evident. However, pile body is buried underground andencounters soil strata of various conditions and there are also construction factors. Therefore,construction quality of piles can only be tested instead of direct observation. Presently, excepttraditional static load test, regular testing methods also include low strain test for pile integrityand high strain test for single pile bearing capacity. These two testing methods require lesstime duration and costs but gives reliable results. Besides, low strain test and high strain testhave been in application in China for years and more experiences and studies are referable.The author carries out studies on geotechnical investigation, construction process, piletesting process and test methods for piles of747MW CCPP Guddu, Pakistan. This papergives investigation results and suggestions in pile construction technology through analysis ongeotechnical investigation process and results and according to geotechnical properties; evaluates integrity and bearing capacity of single pile through pile testing and commentatesconstruction quality of piles through pile testing results. |
