Villages are a special phenomenon under the process of rapid development of thehigher education mega centers(HEMC). Currently, completely pulling down all thehouses and rebuilding a modern district in the same place is the common mode tomost of those villages. But doing that could cause a huge waste of resources andenvironmental pollution, in the mean while; it could lose a lot of folklore and culturalthings. In this process, also it will encounter many unexpected difficulties, forexample, the economic compensation and the employment problem of villagers, etc.Although Guangzhou HEMC has been built at least10years, this problem has notbeen successfully solved yet. Even if one day it solved, Guangzhou HEMC wouldhave become a modern district, which has high buildings around and is lacking ofharmony with the ecological environment. Surely it will not be as comfortable astoday’s one. So, Mr. Wang Yang, the Secretary of Guangdong provincial committee, made a view "All cannot be completely, uniformly pulled down."How to achieveharmony on the University City campus and villages in the city landscape through thetransition of landscape design measures to create a university town and villages, bothbeautiful and comfortable living environment to adapt to the habits of local peopleupdate, and thus better protection, heritage and promote the region culture is thepurpose of this study. In this paper, on the basis of the domestic and foreign related cases in the processof urbanization analyzed and discussed, it talks about the basics and related theory ofthe villages’ transitional landscape design in the higher education mega center. Furthermore, it analyzes the contents and the problems that should be pay attention toand the research methods regarding transitional landscape design of villages in theHEMC.
