As a new preventive maintenance technology, synchronous chip seal has been applied inmany regions of our country. It has the advantage of the better construction, the lower cost and afaster speed of construction. It mainly used for processing small pavement rutting, cracks andother diseases, to improve pavement seepage water capacity, as well as to increase road friction. But so far, it has not yet formed the technical specifications of the design, construction andmaintenance. Synchronous chip seal remains to be to continue to study. In using of synchronous chip seal, it always produces two plant diseases such as theaggregate shedding and weeping. In researching the aggregate shedding through improved lowtemperature adhesion test, we put the stone-free rate as its evaluation. We find that aggregateshedding is caused due to a variety of factors and use grey relational analysis to find that theextent of various factors affecting the aggregate losing. When researching the weeping, we putthe size of the coefficient of friction as the evaluation of weeping. The tests simulate thephenomenon of weeping synchronous pavement surface at a high temperature and its coefficientof friction, measured by pendulum instrument to study analysis test weeping phenomenon. The shedding of aggregate and weeping phenomenon are relate to the amount of binders. The shedding of aggregate and the amount of binders are inverse relation. The amount of bindersis larger, the less of the shedding of aggregates. The weeping phenomenon and the amount ofbinders are direct ratio. The weeping phenomenon is more serious, the larger of the shedding ofaggregates. To twos, the amount of the binder is contradictory. With a value, there is an optimummaximum extent satisfy both conditions simultaneously. This paper intends to identify theoptimum amount of binders in synchronous chip seal. With this dosage of binders, the sealinglayer can remain a smaller amount of the stone-free rate and avoid serious phenomenon ofweeping.
