With the development of Chinese economy,trade logistics becomes thriving and allkinds of wagons, trucks, buses are increasing gradually; the number of private vehicles arealso increasing as the improvement of living standard and the traffic becomes increasinglycomplex. People have paid more attention to the safety and comfort of vehicles. The eddycurrent brake is a third braking which can take on80percent brake work. Using the eddycurrent brake can keep the vehicles running more safely, cozily, economically andpro-environment.First, the dissertation represented the necessity of using the retarder after introducingthe traffic situation and braking capacity of the car at the present time and introduced opera-ting principle and the structure of various retarders. Then the text elaborated on the opera-ting principle, structure and braking Performance of the double-disk eddy current brake.Secondly, this paper introduced the basic theory of electromagnetic field and then definedthe structure and relevant sizes of the eddy current brake and created model by use of theAnsoft–Maxwell and analyzed it’s magneto static field and3-D transient field. Throughcomparing the distribution of the magnetic field and eddy current in the rotor disc of the both,it confirmed the basic theory of electromagnetic induction and obtained parameters such asthe brake moment and the power dissipation. Then the practicability can be proved throughcomparing with the theoretical value of the mathematical model. Thirdly, this paper analyzese-very factor impact on magnetic field and supplies the theoretic foundation for the design ofstructure of the eddy current brake. At last, this paper researched the kinematicalperformance of the eddy current brake by using Matlab-simulink model and definitudes it’skinematical performance and effect factors through the consequence of simulation.The main research contents of this paper are analysis of the finite method on3D-Magnetic field and the simulation of the kinematical braking performance of the eddycurrent brake. It lays a theory foundation for the design of the eddy current brake.
