In recent years, there are a lot of times of earthquake have happened at home and abroad,which have caused significant casualties and property damage. Earthquake has become one ofthe most serious natural disasters. Earthquake is happening frequently in China and theearthquake relief has become a critical issue which must to be solved urgently. One of themost direct and effective method is to improve the seismic performance of buildings.The traditional seismic mainly rely on the building’s own performance and deformationto resist the force from the earthquake; making the structure into a plastic state, or evencollapse. This method is very passive and the seismic force act directly on buildings, which isvery dangerous. In recent decades, by the research of scholars both domestic and abroad, akind of energy theory was raised, that is, putting the energy consumption damper in thebuilding, this kind of damper absorbs the seismic energy directly. When earthquake occurs,the earthquake force which rolled in buildings before was transferred to role in the energydissipation dampers firstly, reasonable decorate damper can consume most of the earthquakeforce, so the earthquake force which role in buildings directly can be decreased greatly, at thesame time the structure’s displacement was reduced deeply, so the building’s seismicperformance was improved greatly.This paper raises a new type of metal damper-“hui”(Chinese word“回”)type ofhysteretic damper; comparing with the existing hysteretic damper we can find out that thenew type hysteretic damper has the advantages of simple structure, convenient manufacture,economical and convenient construction installation. Based on the large finite elementsoftware Sap2000, we add the repeated cycles of loading on the new hysteretic damper. Andcompared the results of the finite element analysis with the results of exist experiment, wecan prove the available of the new metal damper raised by this paper and get the energyparameters of the new hysteretic damper.This paper gives an example of a9-floors framework; with the large finite elementsoftware Sap2000we give the example nonlinear time history analysis. We analyzed thestructure with the new metal dampers in every floors、the structure with the new metaldampers in every other floors、the structure with the new metal dampers in the first floor and the structure without the new metal dampers under the action of the rarely met earthquakeseismic, and we get the differences between the displacements of the top and the bottom ofthe structures and the changes of the displacement angles.Analysis shows that the structure with the new hysteretic damper can control thedisplacement under earthquake greatly, and improve the seismic of the building, so as toprotect the whole structure.
