Nowadays, most of tunnel lighting control systems use switch value to adjust brightness,which sets many lighting circuits and manages each switch in the circuits to control lighting.This method is limited greatly by the lighting circuits, which might produce “light spot” onthe road and affect traffic safety.This paper designs a new kind of tunnel lighting control system including HardwareDesign, Software Design and Algorithm Design. In the Hardware Design, Lonworkstechnology is used in communication, and power line is used in communication, whichgreatly reduces the cost of wiring. And L6574is adopted to change the power of lamps. In theSoftware Design, a tunnel lighting control software based on GIS technology is proposed.The GIS technology connects the space information to the attributes of the equipments, so thesystem can be managed directly and accurately. Every function module of the software isintroduced in this part. In the Algorithm Design, tunnel is divided into four parts: entrance,adapt section, the middle section and exit. Each part has its own control method. The entrancepart use the method of fuzzy control. The adapt section designs appropriate light controlprocesses according to lighting standard. The middle section establishes several mathematicmodels to control the lamps. The exit part designs appropriate light control processesaccording to lighting standard, To sum up, this light changing control system not only ensurestraffic safety but also saves the lighting energy.
