Research On Design Of Rural Road Based On Traffic Safety

In these resent years, the rural road has developed rapidly with the development of rural economy.However, the agricultural vehicles and drivers in rural areas have grown much more rapidly, and the otherreasons including the poor awareness of traffic safety for peasant, a mixture of a variety of agriculturalvehicles, low standard of rural road, poor road condition, the design dissatisfactory with specifications,imperfect traffic safety facilities, and poor management. All of these reasons result into the intensificationof contradictions among the people, vehicles, road. The traffic safety situation of rural road is a worriedproblem. So carrying out the research on the design of rural based on the traffic safety is very urgent.To begin with the factors of affecting safety of rural road, this paper plays emphasis on the conditionsof rural road, and the design of alignment and traffic safety facilities of rural road have been investigated tosolve the traffic safety problems and to provide the advices. The paper has got the results as follows.Firstly, the characters of effect factors including the people, vehicles, road, environment are analyzedcombined with its own characters of rural road, and effects on the traffic safety for these factors are alsoanalyzed. It is presented that the more attention of conditions of rural road should be paid except the factorof people.Secondly, the distributions laws of traffic accident of rural road have been attained from theperspective of accident’s state, including the road grade, section, morphology, vehicle type, time and so on.Based on these analysis, the problems about design of rural road have been presented.Thirdly, the relationship between factors and traffic safety are deeply investigated at beginning ofbasic elements of alignment, including the horizontal, longitudinal, cross-sectional alignment, and theircombination and the effect laws have been presented. Base on the analysis, the designs of each element ofalignment have also been analyzed and the advices and strategies are provided.Fourthly, the designs of traffic safety facilities for general section and difficult section are analyzed.The its suitability and design method are summed up, and the advices to improve the situation of ruraltraffic are also presented.
