Urban intersection is the black spot of urban traffic congestion, which consists ofcontinuous traffic flow and discrete signal light change. Therefore, the urban intersection is atypical hybrid system. When selectting the method of modeling on hybrid system, HybridPetri net (HPN) modeling method can directly reflect the structure of hybird physical systemand therefore, the intersection traffic flow model based on hybrid Petri nets was studied inthis article.In this paper, main study contents are as follows:1、According to the hybrid characteristic of the intersection structure. the dynamicchanges of the intersection lights was represented by the discrete part of the hybrid Petri netswhile the dynamic changes of traffic flow was represented by the continuous part of hybridPetri nets in order to model the four-phases traffic light of intersection based on hybrid Petrinets.2、After analysising the method of setting phase, the intersection of the four-phases wasextended into six-phases intersection based on hybrid Petri nets modeling through separatingthe right turn vehicles into two independent phases, and this paper provided specific ideas ofvalidating the model.3、On the basis of four-phases intersection modeling based on hybrid Petri nets andaccording to pedestrian traffic characteristics, the impact of pedestrian traffic flow onsignalized intersection was analyzed in this paper by using Matlab and Visual Studio2005and then,based on the results of which, the pedestrian flow was taken as traffic flow byanalogy.After that,hybrid Petri nets pedestrian traffic flow was modeled and optimized basedon Petri nets.4、In this paper, the pedestrian traffic flow model was simulated by the commonly usedpetri nets modeling software-theCPNtools(CPNs),according to the state space and thereachability tree of the modelling, some of the dynamic nature of the model was obtained,andproved its reliability and feasibility.The method of using hybrid Petri nets to model the unban traffic system,which showsthe hybird characteristics of the urban transport system, the results of this paper can provide the analysis, forecasting and control of urban traffic system with technical support andtheoretical basis.
