Presently as the transforming technology in Architecture, Engineering,and Construction (AEC) industries, Building Information Modeling (BIM)has become the hottest research point of information technology in civilengineering and architecture globally. However, there are several commonproblems existing in the BIM development, such as: file-based informationsharing and exchange among disciplines leads to incorrect information orinformation lost; the data of multiple projects and multiple disciplines cannotbe stored in a centralized database; decentralized management makes dataversions tend to be out of control, etc. BIM collaboration, which is the goalof BIM, is the approach to resolve the above problems. The core of BIMresearch is carrying out the information sharing and exchange in the buildinglife cycle, which needs the foundation of storing and managing large projectdata in the form of open standard.Based on the principle of BIM collaboration and multi-disciplinarysharing and exchanges of BIM data, this thesis firstly develops theapplication method of CAD standard used in building collaborative designand CAD data management, which demonstrates the importance of standardfor BIM data management. Secondly, the architecture, basic concept andexpression mechanism of IFC are presented, the mode of BIM dataclassification and storage is proposed. Thirdly, the platform requirement ofBIM data storage and integrated management is studied, and the frameworkof BIM collaborative platform (BIM server) is improved based on theprevious research. Finally, three key technologies of BIM data integrated management are studied: the IFC-based BIM database design is achieved,which is the foundation for the integrated management platform of BIM data;the preliminary research on API of BIM database is implemented, and theoverall architecture of API, the functions and properties required by the basicclasses in API, are developed; the management of IFC-based buildingelements is analyzed and the implementation is presented, which is thefoundation for the establishment and management of component library.
