With the continuous development of cities in China, higher buildingsand deeper underground works make the construction increasinglycomplex. Environmental protections and effectively controls of thegroundwater level during dewatering have become increasingly demandingin the excavation project. If the groundwater level is too high, phenomenonof seepage failure, such as soil flowing and piping, and sometimes even theadverse effect on the stability of slope or pit wall; further more, if thegroundwater level is too low, surrounding soil deformation caused byexcessive soil effective stress field change result in uneven settlement ofthe surrounding buildings, further result in adverse effect on thesurrounding environment, even engineering accidents, such as cracking ofthe surrounding buildings, underground water pipes and gas pipes burstingaround the pit. In recent years, remote automation control solutions areoften applied to dewatering project to solve this problem. Compared to alot of engineering data conventional chart, intuitive visualization ofprecipitation process and ground settlement is more acceptable fordecision-maker.Aiming to this problem,a visualization system reflects excavationengineering decompression precipitation was developed by using VB anddatabase technologies in this paper. The main contents of this research areas follows:1. Combing basic theories of excavation engineering decompressionprecipitation, Including numerical differential equations of confined watermotion, the basic model of seepage field and its solution, etc.Establishment of a theoretical basis for numerical modeling analysis of pit decompression precipitation.2. Based on the theories and methods of the object-oriented visualsimulation, combined decompression precipitation engineering practice,focus on digital elevation model, using Visual Basic as a front-enddevelopment language, developed a visualization program ofdecompression precipitation of excavation engineering.3. Created a system database by SQL Server2008, using thisInformation management system into pit decompression precipitationprojects, so the collection, input, storage, processing, and graphical output,and remote transmission of the engineering information came to berealized. Thus, automation of pit decompression precipitation becamefeasible.4. With an engineering example, using engineering test data andfinite element calculations, combined with the visualization process andinformation management system, a visualization system of decompressionprecipitation was developed. Taking into account the needs of users, thegeneric Windows interface was taken in this visualization system realizinga friendly user’s interface. The feasibility and effectiveness of the researchwork of this paper was verified, by using this system into modeling andanalysis of a pit decompression precipitation engineering in Shanghai.
