Innovation is an effective means of improving product competitiveness. In order todevelop successful products we must not only to achieve technical innovation,but also todevelop new products to meet consumer demand and win the market demand. QualityFunction Deployment(QFD) is an effective tools to form product concept in the productdesign process. Use QFD to reflect customer needs throughout the product design processin the early stage. Coordinate design departments to design and develop high-qualityproducts. The success of innovation design depends on the accuracy of the early input,however, customers lack of product knowledge, it is very difficult to fully tap the potentialcustomer needs thought traditional market research. QFD theory lack of market analysisearly in the design, so the identification of customer needs is not sufficient. QFD theorymainly to solve the problem of what to do in the product design process, but did not givethe right tools.In order to compensate the shortcoming of the QFD, this paper firstly analyze producttechnology systems by TRIZ,find the technical evolution law to aid designers to look intothe technology development process, find the future direction of product development.Secondly, design questionaire based on the forecasting results by TRIZ during therequirements elicitation process. Access to survey information and analysis customerneeds comprehensively. Then use QFD to map customer needs to technical characteristics,take the technical characteristics as the input of component configuration phase, achievethe conversion from technical characteristics to component characteristics. To cope with theuncertainty and vague nature in Quality Function Deployment, fuzzy sets are used to deal with thefuzzy language, solve the uncertainty of precise number. Finally, use this methods in automotivesteering systems innovative design to illustrate the application process and theeffectiveness of the research.
