Urumqi is the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which is not only theXinjiang’ s political, economic, technological and cultural center, but also the Xinjiang’ sroads, railways and air transport hub. With the rapid development of the Urumqi’s economic,people’s living standards are improved. The people travel frequently, the demand of travelquality increases day by day, and the degree of motorization raises sharply, which bring a lotof pressure to the urban transport. Bus Rapid Transit(BRT) is a new and high efficientresolution on public transport with low cost, short construction period and good punctuality.On the basis of the relevant technology and the traffic situation analysis of the UrumqiCity, the design of Urumqi’s BRT intersection bus signal priority system is researched, and atypicality sections in Urumqi are chose to do phase design for signal control program. Finally,BRT priority effectiveness of Urumqi is evaluated, and gives the advantage of theimplementation of the BRT bus signal priority system.
