Study On Highway Preventive Maintenances Of Asphalt Pavement

Since the mid-1980s，China’s freeway has been into the construction boom.By the end of2011,China’s total mileage of freeway was85,000km.However; about80%of our country’s existing freeway isasphalt concrete pavement which is subjected to vehicular load, water damage and other environmentaldisturbance, making the expressway asphalt pavement early damage in various degrees. So theconservation task of freeway is more arduous. In this situation, it is significant to research and developtechnology of pavement preventive maintenance.It is also important to explore the model of conservationmanagement.In the stage of highway pavement maintenance, if we want to achieve scientific, efficient andeconomical maintenance operations for ensuring smooth highway and meeting both road users and roadmanagers’ demand, we must apply the technology of asphalt pavement preventive maintenance.Pavement preventive maintenance is applying appropriate maintenance technology on the rightpavement within a reasonable time which can timely repair the pavement tiny disease and do not produceserious injury.It can reduce the number of milling and overhaul,save the cost of heavy maintenance,extend the pavement service lifetime, maintain pavement a good state of service.By analyzing the concept of asphalt pavement preventive maintenance, this article indicates theimportance of the maintaining technology. It analyzes the characteristic and its main principles. Based onthe analysis of pavement disease type and its cause, this article introduces the method of testing andevaluation of pavement performance. Probing macro-analysis and micro-analysis of the standard and its usemethods of pavement preventive maintenance, this article especially introduces some widely usedpreventive maintenance such as slurry seal, micro-surfacing, synchronous pavement surface and so on.Besides, this article illuminates the decision making method of preventive maintenance including makingcertain of conservation opportunity, choosing of conservation measures. What’s more, this articleilluminates the testing and effect evaluation of the pavement performance.The research of asphalt pavement preventive maintenance is of important guiding significance todraw up a plan for freeway asphalt pavement. It provides a reference for asphalt pavement’s management,reassignment and construction.
