Asphalt-cement motor (CA) is an equipment used for mixing and perfusion, which play acritical role in constructing high speed railway. The CA mixer is a key function device of theCA motor. The performance evaluations of the CA mixer impact directly on the criteria of theuniformity, the expansion ratio, the air content, the fluidity etc. of the CA, by which areusually used to evaluate the stability, the reliability and the durability of the rail. Regarding asits better performance, the vertical shaft planet type mixer is widely used in constructing.In this research a new model of the vertical shaft planet type mixer is presented based onthe comparison between all existing prototypes and the technologies of vertical shaft planettype mixer. This new type is drived by the frequency conversion motor with capability ofmultitronic from0to200r/min. Driving mechanism is configurated with the reducer andaccelerater. Comparing with the traditional mixer the new model possess of the advantages ofmore compact form, steadier transmission, higher rotary speed and more uniformity resultingfrom the multilayer construction and helical distribution. The design of the machine isaccomplished by Pro/E software. The dynamic models of the mixer are established andsimulated by Pro/E mechanism. The reasonability of the design is verified by analysis of thedisplacement curves, the speed curves and path of the mechanism of the mixer. The analyticalresults show that the validation of the design is verified and the moving trail of blades iscomplicated without dead band.The mixing parameters of the new is cross tested by using the prototype of the verticalshaft planet type mixer. The optimal mixing is determined by analyzing the test results. Themixing procedure is determined as follow: firstly the mulseal, water and water reducing agentis added and mixed slowly, secondly the power is added and mixed fast, finally theantifoaming agents is added and mixed slowly, the speed and time consumption concernedwith different steps is determined as follow:40r/min,130~140r/min,50~60r/min and1.0s,2.0~3.0s,2.0~2.5s. The vertical shaft planet type mixer is proved to get moreadvantages than the dual-axial mixer by the contrast tests.
