With the development and popularization of modern electrical industry andpersonal electrical products, the reliability of electronic equipment has considered moreand more as a focus of concern. Since the reliability of electronic device majorlydepends on performance of power, and different devices fit different power plan, themanagement of power chips is gradually becoming an essential issue.Generally speaking, the power management techniques have switched from bulky, low efficiency, and energy consuming to integrated and market-sharing, and becausetechnicians nowadays concentrate on ultra-low noise, high PSRR, micro power loss andthe low cost, the new low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator is drawing more attention withits superior performance in above areas. This paper is based on the project from CAD institute of Xidian University.Research of several kinds of low-dropout (LDO) linear regulators has been conducted, comparison of different performance datasets between each one of them is mentioned inthe article, also, the critical feature and its corresponding theory has been analyzed. Thisarticle also proposes a solution to loop stability issue and for the purpose of reduction ofthe area of chip, a method of the combination of bandcap reference and error amplifieris suggested. At last, a design of XD5313chip is prototyped and tested based on thedeveloping principle of low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator.
