A variety of automatic meter reading technology along with the rapid development ofcomputer and communication technologies emerged, the current distribution network energymeter technology has been fully used. Based on the current status of the use of the meterreading technology, this article focuses on the design of an energy meter based on the GPRSnetwork.This paper will first review the history of development since the birth of the power meterto analyze the characteristics and the advantages and disadvantages of different types ofenergy meter on the future development of the network energy meter. GPRS mobile networkto provide wireless IP, just the user to install the terminal block, without special wiring can bereal-time transfer the underlying hardware of all data collected, the GPRS service networkplatform to build a remote network power meter, and in the process of transmission does notoccur frequently dropped calls, transmission delay fault. The system not only have strongreal-time, and timely data collection, and can be remotely controlled, and because the use ofthe GPRS public network platform, and therefore, investment, income, and a wide range ofmeter reading, and the system transmission capacity, fast, cost low.This design highlights the function of the GPRS network energy meter Goals to beachieved, and contrast the pros and cons of different designs, finalized the design of theoverall system design. Chose the Atmel Mega32microcontroller control chip, which not onlysimplifies the system hardware circuit departments to design, improve the processingcapability of the system; energy parameter acquisition part of the ADI’s dedicated chip energymetering The ADE7758, in order to improve the measurement accuracy of the energy meter;in contrast to the current industry GPRS communication module, the design chosen ShenzhenYitian technology ETPro221wireless DTU module, embedded TCP/IP protocol stack, whilesimplifying the interface and external servo circuit, is more suitable for harshindustrialsite. Through the RS-232, RS-485or TTL level interface, using simple AT+i commands, youcan complete end-to-end reliable data communication, greatly reducing user developmenttime and maintenance effort. This asked the GPRS communication in detail theimplementation process, appropriate tailoring of TCP/IP protocol stack, simplifying the TCP /IP protocol, and to meet the energy meter network communication requirements.The power meter is not only have the power parameter measurement function, and thesepower parameters for remote transmission through the GPRS network.This project to meet thedevelopment needs of the electricity sector, in particular the demand for electricitymarket. Designed to improve the level of automation of power operation and management, tomeet the needs of the electricity market, with computer technology, mobile communicationtechnology continues to progress and development will continue to improve data collection,processing, transmission reliability, and ultimately for the electricity sector efficientcommercial operation to provide a basis for decision making.
