With the development of economics and the level of the people's life, power quality and reliability is wanted more. It becomes a problem that supervisory control and management automation of distribution. Distribution automation System (DAS) needs communication which is reliable and effective, so that information and control signal can be transmitted among distribution control center, feeder automation substation and plenty of remote feeder terminal units. Because of the limitations of geographical position, dependability, which can't be very easy to respond to the request that systematic. Presently, Mobile Communication Company's GPRS network that based on the 2.5 G can supply packet radio service and low cost service of wireless transmission. GPRS network provide reliable communication means for inspecting of electric energy. The application based on GPRS technology in the Distribution Automation System mainly be researched. At first, all kinds of communications are described in the DAS. The application has been compared and analysed too. The application of GPRS technology on DAS has also been researched in this paper. In this paper fatal technology of GPRS and provides second different kinds of network for Xi'an Agency Distribution Transformer Detect System has been illustrated. The first is VPN special network. The second is APN special network. The economy and transmission rate and security also be compared, etc. At last, the network access scheme is adopted that APN special network connect to GPRS network. At the same time, it's very necessary when we concerned about the large capacity of GPRS collecting system, higher susceptibility of data and encrypted transmission. In this thesis, we briefly discuss that data can adopt FPGA to realize the compression and encryption between the collection data port and GPRS receiving port.
