Research On The Traffic Conflict Characteristics In Road Intersections Of Mountains Cities

The difficult point of urban road netcom’s traffic safety and traffic capacity isplane intersection. Because of the traffic flows which come from different directionscrossing, confluencing and shunting in there, so the intersection’s traffic is verycomplicated.It’s also the point which generate traffic conflict and traffic accidents.Andthe intersection’s safety conditions has a very important impact on the whole city’straffic safety level. Especially for the mountainous cities, the design of the intersectionlimited by the terrain conditions regularly, this is more to reduce the planeintersection’s security. Therefore, the research on the traffic flow characteristics andtraffic conflict characteristics of mountainous city plane road intersection is veryimportant to ease the growing traffic pressure, make full use of intersection time andplace of resources, improve the whole traffic system’s capacity and service level.It firstly introduced the traffic safety situation of mountain cities’ road intersection.Analyzed the factors effected the road traffic safety through the introduction of thepresent situation, the road traffic safety situation and the main types of mountainouscity.Secondly, this thesis mainly analyzes the motor vehicles’, motorcycles’ andpedestrians’ traffic characteristics through the study of mountain city’s complextopography and geography and there has no non-motor vehicles like bicycle.Thirdly, based on the analysis of the content of the foregoing, the thesis have astudy on the definition and classification of intersection traffic conflict,it alsoanalysis the traffic flows phenomenon of intersection place.At last, in order to reduce the traffic accidents in the intersection and improve theurban overall traffic safety level, the thesis elaborate traffic conflict characteristics ofmountainous cites’ road intersection.
