The facility layout problem is one of the essential plan duties in the manufacturing industry.An excellent placement of facilities can reduce operating expenses effectively and improve the efficiency of manufacture. Therefore, studies of design for facility layout have great theoretical significance and applicable value.Currently, the demand for the products has turned from rare species and large quantities into variety and few quantities,so the flexibility of the system is the main target of the design for facility layout.The robust facility layout is a typical way of flexible facility layout,which contribute to the manufacturing enterprise to operate flexible production model.Based on the theory of robust facility layout and the division of the products set,this paper bulit the model of the multi-stages robust facility layout under various demands of products. After the studies of the algorithm for facility layout problem from related literature, improved adaptive genetic algorithm(IAGA) is selected to solve this layout problem.Finally,this paper design a specific facility layout plan with actual situation for a workshop of gear manufacturing company.The main work and results are as follows:(1) Based on the theory of robust facility layout, all products are divided into several corresponding sets by calculating their priorities.The model of multi-stages robust facility layout which based on various demands of products is bulit to ensure the minimum cost and robustness for the facility layout.(2) Considering all the other factors in the facility layout problem,a model of fuzzy hierarchy evaluation system for facility layout is established.Both analytic hierarchy process(AHP) and expert investigation weight method are used to determine the weight of various factors and the subordinative degree matrix of model.The optimal plan is selected by using composite evaluation method from all the feasible plans.(3) Taking a production workshop of gear manufacturing company as research object,the feasibility and practicality of the layout method are verified.
