With the increasing scarcity of coal resources, the increasing of coal prices, the blending coal in varying degrees has been choosing in the practical operation in many power plants in order to reduce the cost of power generation. At first, the overview of the coal market and the blended coal combustion is described and the boiler system for the Shanxi Datang international Yungang thermal power company is introduced. According to the actual situation in the plant, it is focused on that the analysis of the combustion of inferior coal on boiler operation, and its effect on the ash removal system and desulphurization system. At the same time, the mixed ratio of the low-quality coal is determined through analyzing the effect of mixed burning inferior coal on boiler efficiency and boiler safety. Finally, the best blending ratio between two kinds of inferior coals is obtained by comparing and analyzing the effects of two kinds of mixed coal combustion for four different proportions (1:1,1:2,1:3,1:4) in boiler on super-heater, re-heater, economizer, air pre-heater, slag condensing tubes and boiler tubes, boiler additional heating surface under the condition of thermal calculation. The conclusions can be considered as the certain reference for the burning of inferior coal in the operation of the power plant.
