With the integration of large-scale, intermittent generation sources andhigh-permeable distributed generation into grid, load characteristics have beenbecoming more complex. As the carrier which connects the power generation and load,the grid itself is becoming larger in scale and faces more challenges in maintenance ofsecurity and stability operation of. grid To build a safe, stable, efficient andeconomical smart grid has been the development goal of China’s grid. The maindriving force and one of the goals of smart grid are to improve the accept ability ofthe fluctuation clean energy. Now, power dispatching、power rationing、low-frequencyand low-voltage load shedding、interruptible load are used to make sure the transientbalance of the power system. But, these technologies may cause different damage tothe user interests, and leads to the increase of system operation cost..How to improve the stability of the power grid and ensure the power supply andthe user interests at the same time? In order to solve this problem, this paper carriedout a series of research work.The connotation of grid-friendly technology in smart grid is analyzed in thispaper, which is the coordination and interaction between the generation or electricalequipment and the power grid. Under the connotation, the running of equipment cansupport the security and economy of the grid. The existing grid-friendly technologiesof generation side and power-use side are summarized.Based on the analysis of typical load characteristics and the system frequencystability, this paper analyses the influence of load characteristics on the gridfrequency stability. Summarized the load characteristics of the equipment using thegrid-friendly technology in the power-use side, and theoretically proved the feasibilityof the grid-friendly technology in the power-use side.This paper proposes a grid friendly control strategy of electrical equipment.According to the real-time operation condition of power system, electric equipmentactively adjusts the corresponding operation parameters, and change their ownoperation mode, to actively participate in grid interaction and assist the safe andstable operation of the grid. In view of the different load characteristics, this paperproposes two control schemes. Control scheme I performs asynchronous response, andhas some of the universal applicability. Control scheme II is for the thermal loads, and use their internal temperature control to realize itself active response power gridoperation.According to the control strategy, the paper designs the corresponding simulationscheme with the PSASP software. The feasibility and effectiveness of control strategyproposed was proved with these three different simulations, such as big disturbance,continuous load disturbance, and volatility new energy in power grid.Since the control strategy in this paper can improve the stability of the power gridand ensure the power supply and the user interests at the same time, it will be thebetter choice for the user participation in grid interaction.
