21st century ushers us into a new era of leaping-forward development which, in the meantime, is challenged by scarcer resources, deteriorating environment and frequent natural disasters. Thus a society featuring sustainable development, low carbon emission and energy-conservation is required to be established. Solar energy LED road lamp, green and energy saving, meets the demand of social development. This thesis analyzes the working principles and the properties of the main parts of LED road lamp like LED lighting source, solar photovoltaic battery, storage battery etc. Based on the spot investigation and survey of regional characters of Changchun and the meteorological data thereof, it optimizes the solar energy LED road lamp system. The operating of solar energy LED road lamps has been closely tracked and monitored on job sites with this project in application. It it justified that the solar energy LED road lamps work well all the year round in low temperature areas. Throughout the study, this thesis is expected to have an objective and comprehensive knowledge of solar energy LED road lamp parts, be available to solar energy LED lamps designs in low temperature areas and be of some help for the popularization of solar energy LED road lamps in the concerned areas.
