Electric power is the main energy and power to develop the national economy, thenormal and reliable power supply is the key to the development of the whole nationaleconomy. The rapid development of the national economy has promoted the fastdevelopment of power system, which has lead to the scale and structure of electrifiedwire netting become growing faster and more complex. What’s more, new technologycontinuous integration into power system, which would lead to the power system faultrate and increase the difficulty of maintenance of power grid. So it is necessary toimprove the technology level of the power system staff. When the accident happens,they would assess the nature of the accident and deal with the accident correctly.This paper mainly use the software, named Visual Studio2010,which is developedby Microsoft Corp, to develop a set of substation fault simulation and diagnosisgraphics system, which has a friendly man-machine interface、simple operation andgood openness.This paper firstly use graphics theory to create variety images of the electricalcomponents in the substation system,and then use Object-oriented technology to createa primitive class library of these electrical components, to achieve graphics to databaseassociated, which would contribute to the latter part of the analysis and calculation. Theconnection between the primitive and the primitive is noted by node automaticrecognition algorithm. When the grid topology mapping is completed, the primitive dataof the topology diagram would be automatically entered into the system. Finally, thenumerical analysis and calculations is achieved by EMTP, which is the most popularelectromagnetic transient program at the moment,then the substation fault simulation isachieved.Since the system is mainly for trainees, the teacher can add some substation faults,which is created by the actual substation situation or their own need, to train thestudents. The students deal with substation faults according to simulation resultsprovided by the system interface. And then the system determines whether the accidentrecovery or expand based on the student’s maintenance program, which would allow the students to recognize the various kinds of substation faults, and improve their ability todeal with the substation faults.
