As the requirements of global environmental and energy saving increase, high performance diesel engine oil lubricant standards are continuous upgrading. As a result, the test method of evaluation on diesel engine lubricant performance and theoretical approach is also upgrading. The engine will fail due to poor lubrication which is affected by the speed, load, fuel and other factors, poor lubrication also lead to additional wear and corrosion,so far as to accident. Therefore, the study of evaluation on diesel engine lubricant usability performance is significant.Firstly, this paper defined the diesel engine lubricant usability performance, and introduced traditional method of evaluation on engine oil. Based on detergency and dispersancy bench test and diesel engine oil lubricant performance bench test, test scheme of simulation bench test is presented in this paper. This experiment utilized a single-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine generator to set up the test bench of diesel engine lubricant usability performance.Furthermore, complete the design of the test scheme including operating schedule and the rule of taking oil samples. Oil analysis methods are used to find out the data from the oil samples and tendency charts are constructed. After test, disassembled the engine and obtained the grade of real information of wear variation, the surface condition of piston and other components.Finally, the theory of comprehensive evaluation of diesel engine lubricant usability performance has been discussed. D-S evidential theoretical from information fusion is used to describe the diesel engine lubricant usability performance. The analysis calculated result which described condition of oil lubricant is compared with the real condition of the bench test result. From this comparative result, it can be concluded that the set up and procedure of the experiment are feasible to use and D-S evidential theoretical can be applied in the oil lubricant comprehensive evaluation.
