With the advances in medical technology and the diversiifcation of the medicalmodel, the quality of health care environment has become an important evaluation criteria of amodern hospital. In the design of the medical environment, to create an appropriatearchitectural physics environment is very important. The quality of architectural physicsenvironment directly determines the quality of the health care environment. The emergency department is a crucial part of modern general hospital in which mostcritically ill patients cluster, its users’ mental states are unstable. Patients and theiraccompanying relatives are often intentive and anxious, and health care workers are at highwork intensities and heavy psychological pressures. Therefore, the research topic we must toface is how to create a comfortable, healthy and eiffcient architectural physics environment ofemergency department to meet the physical and psychological needs of its users. This thesis consists of five chapters: Chapter I,expounds the topics of the papers’background, illustrates the purpose and signiifcance of the study, summarizes and arrangesthe domestic and international research of this topic, and clariifes the research method andframe structure. Chapter II, introduces the related theoretical research, summarize the theoryof general hospital emergency department, explains the concept of architectural physicsenvironment, deifnes the research scope of the physics environment of the emergencydepartment structure, presents the architectural physics environment’s effect based on themedical treatment, clariifes the influencing factors of designing the architectural physicsenvironment of emergency department, summarizes the evaluation criteria and methods of thearchitectural physics environment of hospital. Chapter III,as the sample of a number ofrepresentative general hospitals in Beijing, based on the ’users subjective experience ofarchitectural physics environment of the emergency departments ’status, to carry outquestionnaires and interviews to make subjective feelings satisfaction evaluation ofarchitectural physics environment of the sample hospitals. Explores the architectural physicsenvironmental factors which affect users’ subjective feelings. Chapter IV, Field evaluates thearchitectural physics environment of sample hospitals, objectively describes the architecturalphysics environment of emergency departments. Chapter V,based on the subjective feelingsand objective status research of the emergency departments, combines with domestic andforeign outstanding emergency departments’ architectural physics environment design cases, trying to state the control strategies and optimization methods of the emergency department’sarchitectural physics environment.
